Program Description

AUF’s Associate of Arts Degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising and Media is comprised of a combination of courses that focus on the three available program concentrations:

Program Objectives

The objective of the program is to provide students with foundational and intermediate knowledge of fashion practice, craftsmanship, and industry, and to prepare them for further specialization and professional development in fashion design and related creative fields. Students will:

• Develop foundational and intermediate skills in fashion design and creative craftsmanship, building practical knowledge and technical abilities grounded in Italian artisanal traditions and contemporary fashion practices.

• Gain an understanding of fashion, design, and industry through an international and intercultural lens, examining creative traditions, contemporary perspectives, and the cultural, social, and professional contexts of fashion production.

• Engage with Florence and its fashion and creative community through experiential learning activities, connecting hands-on practice and academic study to the broader cultural and industry environment.

General Education Requirements

All AA candidates are required to complete at least 21 gen ed credits in the areas of English Composition, Humanities, Mathematics, Physical and Biological Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Italian language.
