Fashion and Accessory Design
Program Outcomes
The concentration in Fashion and Accessory Design focuses on developing:
An introduction to the fashion industry, grounded in professional orientation and communication, together with foundational design principles and initial fashion and accessory construction skills
A consolidated design and construction practice with increasing technical complexity, supported by an understanding of materials, processes, and the development of creative and practical design proposals
An understanding of fashion communication and professional development within contemporary fashion contexts, including introductory front-of-house (FOH) retail practices in a store environment, monthly events, and seasonal markets
The capacity to develop and present active design proposals for a community retail environment, integrating design, construction, communication, retail, and customer-facing skills
Community and Professional Involvement
Engagement through fashion, design, and retail programming for the community alongside foundational design, construction, and FOH retail practice
Community-based experiential learning involvement through active design proposals, store-based activities, monthly events, and seasonal market experiences
Career Opportunities
Fashion design assistant; accessory design assistant; fashion retail assistant; visual merchandising assistant; styling assistant; product development assistant; entry-level roles in fashion design, retail, and creative production.
